The shadow underneath the door…
Shifted.
Like someone was standing on the other side.
The manager leaned closer.
“Probably lighting,” he said.
But his voice didn’t sound convinced.
Then—
At exactly 2:17 AM…
The door handle moved.
Just slightly.
But the door…
Didn’t open.
Instead…
The shadow under the door disappeared.
Like whatever was there…
Was no longer behind it.
My heart started pounding.
We kept watching.
2:18 AM.
Nothing in the hallway.
Door still closed.
Then suddenly—
From inside the apartment…
Something hit the door.
Hard.
The camera shook slightly from the impact.
The manager jumped.
Then…
Silence.
Complete silence.
We stared at the screen.
Waiting.
Hoping for something normal to happen.
But nothing did.
Until…
2:21 AM.
The door opened.
Slowly.
My sister stepped out.
She looked… wrong.
Her face was pale.
Eyes wide.
Like she hadn’t blinked in minutes.
She stood there for a few seconds.
Then she looked directly at the camera.
And whispered something.
There was no audio.
But I could read her lips.
Three words.
“It’s still inside.”
She turned.
Walked back into the apartment.
And closed the door.
That was the last time she was seen alive.
The footage ended there.
I couldn’t move.
Couldn’t think.
The manager turned to me slowly.
“I’ve never seen anything like that.”
Neither had I.
But something wasn’t right.
If she left the apartment…
And went back in…
Then whatever was inside…
Never left.
That night, I went back to her place one last time.
I don’t know why.
Maybe I needed to prove to myself it wasn’t real.
Maybe I just couldn’t accept it.
The apartment was silent.
Too silent.
I stood in the hallway for a long time before unlocking the door.
Then I went inside.
Everything looked the same.
Exactly the same.
But the air felt…
Heavy.
Like I wasn’t alone.
I walked slowly through the apartment.
Living room.
Kitchen.
Bedroom.
Nothing.
I let out a breath I didn’t realize I was holding.
Maybe it was over.
Maybe it was just fear.
Maybe—
Then I heard it.
A sound.
From behind me.
The hallway.
Soft.
Slow.
Footsteps.
I turned around.
The hallway was empty.
But the sound didn’t stop.
It was still coming.
Getting closer.
And then…
I realized something that made my blood run cold.
The footsteps…
Weren’t coming from the hallway.
They were coming from inside the walls.
Moving.
Right toward me.
I ran.
Didn’t look back.
Didn’t stop.
I don’t remember locking the door.
I don’t remember getting to my car.
I just remember one thing.
As I drove away…
I looked up at her apartment window.
And for a split second…
I saw someone standing there.
Watching me.
Not my sister.
Something else.
And I knew…
Without a doubt…
Whatever was inside…
Didn’t stay there.
It followed me.
